Community Playcentre @ Walberton

Encouraging confidence and individuality in each child

About Community Playcentre Walberton

The Community Playcentre at Walberton is an established all day nursery for children aged 0-4 as well as providing Breakfast club, Afterschool club and Holiday provision for primary school aged children.

Built in 2015 with fundraising efforts from the local community we are located in the beautiful village of Walberton, near both Arundel and Chichester, West Sussex.

Facilities for Babies and Overs

Our nursery is split in two areas: our babies’ area for those children aged 0-2, and our overs area for 3–4-year-olds.

We are open 51 weeks of the year (closed for Christmas week), Monday to Friday, 7.30am until 6.00pm. We can offer spaces based on an all-year basis or term time, and have a range of sessions such as school mornings, school hours or full days.

We accept 2-, 3- & 4-year funding between the hours of 9am-3pm, as well as Tax Free childcare and childcare vouchers.

Our Team

Our staff have a variety of experience and qualifications between them, and continue to improve their knowledge through training which enables us to have the most up to date practice. As well as having an amazing team of practitioners, we also have an administrator, two cooks and our own inhouse cleaner. Together all staff recognise the importance of how they can shape the learning and development of children during their time with us. All staff undertake regular DBS checks and mandatory training, as well as undertaking First Aid Training every 3 years.

All nursery children are allocated a key person when they start with us. As well as being a point of contact for parents and carers, the key person will observe, assess and plan next steps for each child’s development. Through use of Tapestry and regular meetings with parents we discuss your child’s progress and the areas of development we are working on.

Our Space

As well as our main classroom area, we have a large outdoor space which overs children are able to access. Children are encouraged to choose their own activities independently both inside and outside
throughout the day, as well as taking part in more structured activities such as lunch time and group time where every child comes together in a group. Our babies have access to both inside and outside but staff follow their individual routines so naps and
feeding time are similar to their home routines. As both areas access the garden in all weathers, we do recommend appropriate clothing such as coats, wellies and rain coats/suits are brought in.

Kitchen and food

We have our own kitchen with two cooks who provide delicious and healthy home cooked meals at an extra cost. Children are able to have their own packed lunch if they prefer. The Playcentre provides
breakfast, snacks and an evening meal with the price included into the relevant session it falls into. We are able to cater to allergies and dietary requirements, and are a nut free nursery.
